About Me

I am a Graphic Designer/ Photographer from Stockton, California. I graduated from the University of the Pacific in the Spring of 2019. My work and designs show an eclectic mix of ideas and concepts that touch on popular culture, as well as cultural and societal issues. My works range from paintings to computer designs done on Illustrator to motion graphics and photography. Even though much of my work is primarily photographic and design based.

I want to be able to represent various cultures, ideas, and beliefs within my work. This is seen and expressed in my newer photographic series entitled “Can I Touch Your Hair.” Being an African American, I like to incorporate aspects of my culture and beliefs into my work. This is one influence that I have. The African American culture has shaped me artistically and personally. I am also influenced by the contemporary Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki. His line work and illustrations have always had an impact on me and how I want to create my work. Some of his ideas and practices can be seen in some of my designs.

But while African American culture and Miyazaki styles have influenced me in some aspects of my designs, I prefer to not restrict myself to certain styles. From vibrant colors to my use of typefaces whether serif or sans serif, my work shows the audience who I am and the work I love to create. I value the ideas and beliefs of everyone and through time I want people to be able to look at my work and not only see apart of myself, but see apart of themselves as well.
